Infotech Lead Asia: Gautam Thakkar will be the new CEO and MD of Infosys BPO.
Swami Swaminathan, the current CEO, will be retiring on April 30.
Thakkar joined Infosys Technologies in 2000 in the erstwhile business consulting services and was one of the founding employees of Infosys BPO. Prior to joining Infosys, he worked with Accenture in the strategic services practice.
Infosys has also switched the roles of Nandita Gurjar and Srikantan Moorthy with effect from April 1.
Gurjar, who was the head of human resources (HR), will head education and research, and Moorthy, who headed education and research, will head HR.
Gurjar joined Infosys in 1999 and founded the learning and development unit. She was appointed group head for HR in 2007 and as a member of the Infosys executive council in 2011. She was based in Texas, US, for over a year recently, when Infosys was seeking to strengthen its employee presence there, TOI reported.
Srikantan Moorthy has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry, of which 12 have been in the US. He has been with Infosys for 12 years now. As head of education and research, he plays the key role of overseeing the residential training program for the thousands of fresh engineers that join Infosys every year, and the retraining of older professionals. He will now have the task of keeping over 1.5 lakh employees motivated as Infosys seeks to transform itself into a higher value added player.
